Raquel did well at lunch today, almost ate the entire thing except for a few broccoli florets and edamame. Her and I sat in the cafeteria after the class had all gone home and we watched the upper classmen arrive to eat lunch. About 50% of the children had brought lunches from home! I was very happy to see this, not only for their sake but mostly (selfishly) because I was worried I might be the only mom who thought her kid was too good for school lunch. This is only true for the preschool group.
Since making the sushi took some time to assemble, I did some research on "speed bento" and found tips on how to make lunch fast but nutritious. I cooked rice, pasta and vegetables (seperately), divided them into servings and popped them in the freezer. I believe I'm set up for the next month of making Raquel's lunch!
Here are my favorite shots from our time outside...

man you take good pictures. I could see those in 'parents' magazine.
i guess it helps tremendously when you have cute kids!
Thank you! I've been sprucing them up with Picasa 3. But, yeah, my kids are freakin' CUTE!
My favorite is the one with Maxine looking down. And the one with Raquel in the far back, playing!!!
Really great pics Sarah :)
I like the baby bear one too!
Picasa 3 is great. Have you tied it to your Google albums?
Huh? What's this Google Albums? I may or may not have done that, on accident of course.
yeah. eventho you use that editing program. you have a great eye for shots. those angles are great! i'm so impressed.
I LOVE getting compliments like that from you, Husband!
Your pictures are fantastic. What is Picasa 3?? One thing I know for sure, you've got much better light in your kitchen that I do...when baby food becomes food porn, you're doing something right.
Oh, and the hat is hilarious. It never spent more that 3.4 seconds on Maggie's head. I tried once. She ripped it off. It was always too small for her big-ass head anyway. (Big-Ass Head is, of course, the technical term for 95% percentile of head circumference.)
Kitty, Picasa 3, if I'm right, is a free photo editing thingy from google. It's really user friendly and does fun stuff. Blogger and Picasa are both Google thingies. Thingy.
As for the hat, I have been blessed with 2 little girls who love accessories. It's crazy! Raquel always loved hats and jewelery since she was about 1 yr old and now Maxine seems to be the same with the hats. She hasn't tried to pull one off yet. Yet I say.
Oh, and thank you for the food porn compliment :D
The sun is starting to move to a more northern setting, so right now it shines right into our kitchen in the late afternoon.
